Pure Experience Aix and Verdon

  • Once in Aix, stroll in streets from the 17th and 18th centuries, admire the elegant facades of the private mansions which bear witness to the prestigious past of the city.
  • French cuisine has been declared a « world intangible heritage » by UNESCO and the city of Aix is also proud of its local speciality « Les Calissons ». Find out about the legend of this traditional French candy and taste some home-made pieces in a bakery (tasting included).
  • Free time to wander in the provencal market
  • Continuation toward Moustiers-Sainte Marie passing accross the Plateau of Valensole : from June 10th to July 20th a photo stop will be organized to take pictures of the blue-striped lavender fields.
  • In Moustiers-Sainte Marie*, plunged into the song of the cicadas, the Provencal scents, the colours and the light of the sun present 300 days per year, you will find easy living and authenticity. Moustiers Sainte-Marie is known all over the world for its ceramics with incomparable refinement and decors. They are created from three essential
elements : water, earth and wood. Meet local artisans in their earthenware workshops.
  • You will be back on the road for an extraordinary drive in the Verdon River Canyon famous for the limestone walls which are several hundreds of meters high.
The river's striking turquoise colour is associated with glacial sources and the minerals of rock fluorine suspended in the water.
  • The river flows into the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix de Verdon created by a dam in 1974 to improve Provence's water supply.
  • You will stop in the village of Sainte-Croix de Verdon : walk on the beach or take a bath in the bright turquoise water before driving back to Avignon.
